Akufo-Addo congratulates France President-elect Emmanuel Macron

President Akufo-Addo has urged the President-elect of France, Emmanuel Macron to strengthen the ties between Ghana and the entire African continent ahead of his inauguration on Sunday.

He also lauded his acceptance speech which pledged to, “fight the divisions that undermine France”, and effect the change the French people voted for.

Macron won the presidency with 65.1 percent of votes cast and will become the eighth president of France’s Fifth Republic after his swearing-in.

His business-friendly vision of European integration, defeated Marine Le Pen (34.9 percent), a far-right nationalist who threatened to take France out of the European Union.

Aged 39, he is France’s youngest leader since the famed French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, who took power at age 35.
